This is yet one more solitaire-style game using traditional playing cards. It is similar to FreeCell and Klondike (Windows Solitaire) in that the object is to rearrange cards in order to try to get 4 stacks of 13 cards of each suit, from Ace to King. Midnight Oil provides yet one more unique method to do that. The rules are fairly simple: On the main play area, you can only lay a card on top of another card of the same suit that is one higher (eg: a 6 of clubs can ONLY be laid on the 7 of clubs, the Jack of Hearts can only be laid on top of the Queen of Hearts, etc.
). In the 4 bottom areas, you start with Ace and go all the way up to King, just like you do in Windows Solitaire and FreeCell.

The graphics are old-fashioned DOS text-based ASCII style, and the sound is that old, sometimes irksome PC Speaker. If you can tolerate both, this is a pretty dandy solitaire card game to add to your solitaire collection.

Your goal is to move all the cards from the top of the fans into the foundation, building up to king. Only the top card is available for play, but you can build downwards with not limits on the size of each stack. Once a fan is emptied, it is no longer available to build upon. The name 3 Shuffles and A Draw tells you that you get 3 shuffles (the initial layout and two more) and a single draw from within the fans. This layout provides for a well balanced game... you can win, but it takes some planning and intention, and there are plenty of games I've lost.
Game controls are very simple: right click reveals every card in a fan, and left click will move it to any available opening. Of course, this means you have to be careful to think about your left clicks, or you may bury a card without intending to. When you are in the expanded view provided by a right click, you are able to reorganise the cards shown - that's your draw. There's a simple button for a new hand, and the help menu is easy to find and contains info on not only the mechanics of the solitaire game, but also on the mechanics of the actual computer game.
I'd say, this game is fun, simple, and yet enough challenge to enjoy it.
