If you've never heard of Mario then you are really not of this time. Mario is a game that has been played by lot of people and a lot of people still play it. The original version was not for DOS but there are made some. One of them is Mario Brothers VGA, another one is this game, Mario and Luigi. A good game made by Mark Wiering of Wiering Software.
The intention of this platform game is simple: kill the animals that are walking at the level, pick up as much coins as you can and get to the exit of the level. Then, it starts all over again. In another level of course, but it keeps fun and addicting to play.
The graphics of this game are the recognizable Mario graphics. The gameplay is good and the music; I can't hear it but it's probably there.
Reviewer: Purple_Dos I still remember the first time I played the game Mario and Luigi for Microsoft DOS, the graphics on it are absolutely beautiful for an MS-DOS game that I've played. It actually looks incredibly similar to the classic super Mario Brothers up to a certain point of course.
I love Mario matter-of-fact I have at least four Mario games for a handheld platform, and I am pretty good at them all. This game on the other hand, is incredibly complex once you get to the long jump over the extended ditch. Yeah, sure it looks simple enough there is fish jumping out of the water and back in, so jump on one and go on to land. Needless to say that's easier to be said than done I've only gotten past them three times out of about 20. The game making itself incredibly good there is the mushroom that makes Mario super Mario, there is the firepower that makes fire Mario, there is even a hidden one up box and a bonus.
I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who wants to challenge their timing skills and their reflexes on the computer, this incredibly challenging but yet fun game gives a great sense of accomplishment when the end goal is reached. Each level has a specific hard point in it, but once you get past that part, it is easy. Other aspects of the game: there is no sound at least music anyhow, the levels are timed, the only sound there is when the boxes are hit, a mushroom is acquired, a firepower is acquired and in several more cases.
So, all in all this MS-DOS game although as any MS-DOS games has a few challenges to overcome, but I am amazed by how close it follows the Mario spirit. It is quite addictive shall I say to play. I love this game and as a matter of fact I have had this game for years and it still challenges me today, I would recommend this game to anyone who is a Mario fan or just likes to be challenged.
