Captain Comic is a old Platfrom game made in 1988. I didn't like the game at all, but I know other people like this game very much.
You are the captain named Comic, and you'll have to solve the levels by shooting and jumping to birds. There are two kinds of these: grey and blue, the grey will hurt you, the blue will increase your health.
The graphics are not the best, but that's what youc an expect from an old game.
The gameplay is simple, just use your keys to control Captain Comic.
Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online Captain Comic is a side scrolling game where as Captain Comic you must collect three treasures that have been hidden in the planet Tambi. These treasures were stolen from the planet Osmoc. The game was released in 1988 for MS-DOS and is one of the first side-scrolling games created for the IBM.
In the game you will lead Captain Comic as he goes through the various environments in the planet of Tambi. The various environments include: a lake, a forest, lakeside, a moon, a cave, inside a castle, inside a computer and others. While going through the different environments and trying to retrieve the stolen treasures, Captain also has to go against several enemies. Each environment has different types of enemies that the protagonist has to face.
Timing the jumps can be a difficult so that makes the game just a little more difficult than your average side scrolling game. Becoming really good in the game requires practice. The controls are easy but timing jumps and getting through the obstacles requires skill and practice.
The character can endure seven hits before he dies. Aside from the health bar, the Captain also has items that he can use in the game.
The graphics of the game is somewhat poor as it was created with basic VGA graphics engine. The scenes are simple and your character has very basic animation but since most of the games released during that time really had simple graphics then I’m not one to knock this game down just based on the graphics alone.
The sound is also bad and is probably the worst part of the game. The basic sounds of the game for the character’s actions and even the background music doesn’t really help make the game better. In fact if you’re not in a good mood the music can be kind of annoying.
This game is one of the best games released for the DOS. I remember being young and just staying up late to play this game. It is a fun game that children can have fun with and also interesting enough and challenging enough for an adult to enjoy. The difference is that experienced gamers can play the game non-stop and finish the game in an hour or so. The game is pretty short so it’s not frustrating and you can finish the game and just come back to it when you have time to spare and want to have mindless fun.
