The graphics are superb for a 1983 game. The sound is excellent! The game is pretty much a Boulderdash clone with a few twists. Grab the diamonds, don't let the moneybags fall on you, and don't let the monsters touch you. That's all you need to know to play. However, the repetition may bore some. Overall, a gaming masterpiece!

If you're a Boulderdash fan, download this now! Even if you're not, download it anyway!

Digger is an action arcade game with a lot of puzzle solving. During this game you are trying to collect diamonds while staying alive from the falling rocks and diamonds, and as well avoiding the ghosts. There are thirty two levels to be completed. At the end of every level that you complete you will be given the level code to get into the next level. This makes it that you are able to skip levels in further game play.
During each level you will have a total of three minutes to collect the number of diamonds needed to continue on to the next level. Once you’ve collected the correct number of diamonds there will be an exit that you can use. You don’t have to leave the level right away, you are able to try getting the rest of the diamonds on that level. For each diamond you will get twenty five points, and if you complete the level before the three minutes and leave it fast enough you will gain one point per second. If you are aiming at getting a high score collection most of the diamonds will get you an even higher score. When you gain a certain amount of points you will be given an extra life. At the end of the game for every life you have that will be added onto your final score bringing it up even more. When you kill a monster you will gain 250 points. During bonus mode, you will earn 200 points for the first monster, and doubling each time you kill another.
It is best to ensure where you drop your rocks just in case you block your exit and get trapped. If you do find yourself trapped in the game you will have to commit suicide and retry that level again. There are also a few levels that don’t have enough diamonds in it to complete the level. Throughout those levels there are a few sieves. You must place a rock on top of these and if there is space beneath it the rock will fall and become a diamond. This is also another great way to gain even more points throughout the levels, even if you don’t need them.
The graphics in this game are very generalized. You will be looking over the entire level play field with minimal detail. You will see your character, the ghosts, the diamonds, and the rocks. It does have pretty basic graphics for such a wonderful game.
Digger can be a very addicting game. Once you start playing you will most likely want to see how high of a score you can get and then attempt beating it numerous times. If you do find yourself getting a little bored of the thirty two levels available, try making some of your own. There are so many things in this game that you are able to do, there is no possible way you will find yourself not playing it. Digger has become a great action arcade that is so much fun to play over and over again.
