Charlie II is the sequel to Charlie the Duck. Both games are made by the Dutch developers Wiering Software.Their intention is to make non-violent platform games, and for as far as I can see they succeeded in that. Charlie II was originally made for the DOS platform, but it has an pre-build option to play it in Windows.
Charlie II is a Mario-style game. You are playing with Charlie, a duck. In the levels are a lot of animals that want to kill you, hidden chambers and some more things which make the game nice to play.
If you played Mario for three hours and you're sick of it, you should try this game. Charlie II has nice graphics, good sounds and an excellent gameplay. I had a lot of fun playing this game.
Reviewer: Reester When I first played this game, I thought what a nice little platform. Charlie swims and pops up like a little duck should. It is a hit with all of our grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This game is one where Charlie has to collect coins and whatnot to gain enough points to clear the level... This isn't exactly easy to do. What I have learned about this game is that you have to have patience. Charlie the Duck, the first game before Charlie II, is challenging also. The enemies of the game are bees... and even balls that fall out of the palm trees. Watch out for all sorts of dangers. It is best to save the game in steps... after you accomplish a feat, save the game. It is better that way, because you will become frustrated if you have to start from the beginning all over again. Getting back to the enemies, you can, like Mario, jump on top of them to kill them. Most people that like games like: Mario, Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, and BioMenace... will love this game. It isn't the easiest to master but that is where the strategy plays its role. This game is a wonderful game for children and adults alike. The graphics are wonderful for this little platformer. The sound is also up to date and well mastered for excellent gameplay. There are also hidden areas with points waiting for you to collect. You have to jump on the chest to open them... some will have a gem in them or a heart, meaning extra life for you. This is much needed in this game. The gameplay is not interrupted by sticky keys... the file works fine and will not freeze on your PC. There is one final level where you have to fight the boss... don't be fooled it isn't as easy as it looks. It is rather tough. There are several levels in this game that even the most bored players can enjoy. So, I invite you to play Charlie II today and experience the fun. Remember to save... I would also recommend Jill Of The Jungle, Jill Goes Underground, and Jill Saves The Prince. Charlie II is just one of the old DOS computer games that are astounding to play even in today's world. What would we do without the old platform games and shoot 'em up ones too. Play Charlie II today! You will be glad that you did!
