This uses the same basic concept as Galaxian, Space Invaders, Galaga, etc. as you are a spaceship on the bottom of the screen shooting aliens on the top. However, this provides greater control of the weapon (you can make your bullets go in many directions), and it keeps you on edge, quick reflexes are critical, if you blink, you might miss something (or lose). There are also some powerups like a temporary shield.
If you like Galaga or similar games, download this for more fast-paced action.
Reviewer: BENBEAWESHUM Wasn't Galaxian a great game back in the day when arcades were popular? I would play it all the time, and now it's great to see a full DOS version in hi-definition.
It was always a favorite thing of mine to attempt was to get the top score on that infamous high score list with the initials of people no one knows of cares about. Honestly, I could play this game forever just blasting away at those annoying alien ships from above your little star fighter.
It's impossible to go wrong with the concept of a single space ship shooting at a seemingly endless wave of alien spacecrafts. It makes me want to connect a joy pad to my computer and slay the heck out of this little game. I especially like the ability to aim your bullet in different areas, it can really help when the aliens are closing in around you and there is nothing else you can do but hope to god that you make it out alive.
Sadly, I find the gameplay somewhat repetitive, but that doesn't really matter. The developers made a great choice to keep it simple, and succeeded greatly, and finished off a great classic and memorable game, that, while it may not be remembered forever, it sure will make some people happy playing it.
