This is the second Xmas version of Jazz Jackrabbit. The scene is set in winter so Jazz shivers when he doesn't move. Also there are some Xmas decorations. However, this game is OK to play all year round. Other than that, it's the same Jazz action with some whole new levels! Run fast, shoot turtles!
If you like Jazz Jackrabbit download this for a few extra levels.
Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online Jazz jackrabbit: holiday hare was a great game I loved the design of the first game but this one is even better. The graphics make the game I say and this version makes the list. The rabbit in his gear goes from level to level in style. And the holiday themes make this version even more fun than the first one...
I think of Mario brothers game when I play this game and a we all know how much of a boom it was jazz jackrabbit should be no different… The same pain stakes of effort are here with a well thought-out design and a level base to boot.
Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online Jazz Jackrabbit Holiday Hare is basically a Christmas edition of one of the world’s favourite little platform games. Jazz Jackrabbit is the star of many such platform games by Epic Megagames, most of which are knock offs of the original, featuring the same basic game play but with different themes. This particular instalment came in the middle nineties, and was also re-released with a few tweaks under the title Jazz Jackrabbit Xmas Edition. The cute little bunny hero was an instant favourite with PC gamers, and found his way quickly into the hall of honour with similar animated heroes, such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Nintendo’s Super Mario Brothers. Its vibrant graphics and vivid animated colours made it a rarity and a novelty on the PC format, making it the most popular of all the ports that Jazz found his way onto.
The inspiration behind Jazz Jackrabbit is the age old fable by Aesop, “The Tortoise and the Hare.” No, there are no races, but all of the baddies in the Jazz Jackrabbit games seem to revolve around turtles. Devan Shell controls a legion of turtle terrorists who seem bent on destroying life in Jazz’s happy little world. Carrotus, as the world is called, is under attack from these shelled shysters. Sadly, so is Jazz’s girlfriend, Eva Earlong.
Jazz Jackrabbit Holiday Hare is really no different in concept to the other Jazz games. It is a stand alone game and does not require any of the others, including the original, to play. It is still a nice jump and run style of platform game, but the lush greens of the Carrotus gardens have been replaced by a wintery white wonderland. There are icicles everywhere, and the game looks just plain cold. If the gamer stands around too long, poor Jazz will even begin to shiver and shake in an effort to keep warm!! The words on the main menu are also obscured by an awful blizzard at the beginning of the game.
There are some very Christmassy motifs present as well. Many of the bonus items are shaped like Christmas tree ornaments or gifts. The game also features some festive tunes, some of which will be easily recognized. For example, there is a hip hop (get it) remix of “The Little Drummer Boy” playing in the background during one portion of the game. Overall, this is a cute little addition to the Jazz Jackrabbit stable, and it is sure to become a favourite game around the holidays.
