This game is very similar to Scorched Earth, Gorillas, Tank Wars, etc. in that you set angle and power, then launch your weapon. In this case, you are the Beer Man, and your job is to destroy the Beer Varmit. Before you start, you have $20,000 to buy weapons and stuff. Some of the weapons are things you would find in a bar.
If you like Scorched Earth and similar games, give Beer War a try.
Reviewer: rein Summary: Beer War is a 1994 game where you have to destroy the evil Beer Varmint. In order do that, you need weapons and that’s where the 20,000 dollars comes in: to buy all the weapons needed to destroy the Beer Varmint, who had taken all the barrels of beer up to some hill and put the up on a platform and placed in a purple dome, making impossible for you get to the barrels of beer. That’s were the weapons will come in for that and you might need a lot to carry out your missions you can find in bars through out the game to break though the purple dome like barrier that holds the barrels of beer on the platform.
The gameplay is like a combination of Scorched Earth meets Tank War meets Gorillas. All you have to do is to set the angle and power.
All in all, nice retro game to kill some time.
Reviewer: lois_rich Beer War is a very exhilarating game to play. Who doesn't love beer and war? It's a perfect combination!
I was first introduced by this game, when I was about twelve years old, by my older brother. It was probably the first game I ever actually played and enjoyed. It teaches good strategy and healthy rivalry. The Beer War is a simulation of the beer business. You take over a brewery and must build up the biggest and best beer company. In order to win the game you must force your enemies into bankruptcy, nothing feels better than that! But beware, there are nine opponents with the same aim, so you have to ruin them before they do it to you, and it is a pretty tough job to do. I mean nine opponents, it takes awhile! But it is worth it, after you feel victory of a job well done. You have to build breweries, depots and conceive new brands. That's my favorite part, building the new breweries. You must transport your beer to other cities and take care of your accounts, transporting can be a bit of a hassle, but some good worth ethic and you can get it done. But the most important thing is, lower the price of your beer to increase your sales, I know you may be asking, why would you lower your price to increase your sales, but it is to make more money. Customers realize your prices are cheaper than the rest, and then they will come and buy your product instead of everyone else’s, and the more customers your get, the more products you sell, and the more money you make!
The game offers three different scenarios, each requiring a different strategy to win. I played this game for hours and hours on end when I was a kid, and I actually picked it up a few weeks ago, and dabbled a bit in it. It inspired me to want to open my own business when I get out of college. I know it could be a stressful job, but when you're on top of the food chain, nothing feels better than that, I can guarantee you that much! Hiring employees would be my favorite part. Picking people to represent your store, and sell your product.
All in all, nice game to try and spend few free hours. Download Beer War (beerwar.zip)
