In Caverns of Xaskazien it's your task to walk around in the dark caverns of... Xaskazien! You have to collect gold while other characters will attack you. You will have to defend yourself or the enemies will kill you.
The graphics of Caverns of Xaskazien aren't the worst graphics I've ever seen, but I don't think they're great. This game might be fun to play for a while, but if you want real adventure, you should try another game.

If you play the original version, the graphics are very 2D and remind you of any old PC game from the mid 90's. But there have been updates done to the game in the 21st century to modernize the game. It is a very entertaining game, and also has a certain level of challenge to it.
The Caverns of Xaskazien originated in 1995 and is a rogue-esque game. In this game your task is to make your way through the dungeon to eventually defeat Xaskazien. In the earlier verisons you play as a generic human character, but if you are lucky enough to get one of the newer versions you will have a choice as to whether you would like to play as a Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling or Half-Orc, Warrior, Mage or Rogue. The different characters therefore have different attributes and bonuses throughout the game. The dungeons become harder as you progress through the game, you contiue to come in contact with new monsters and new traps. Some levels are referred to as "Legendary Lands" and these are the levels that have been pre-created, the other levels are randomly created as you go. The Legendary Lands are usually seen as harder than the other levels, but their results are also seen as more rewarding. Each level's map starts in a state of darkness and is revealed more and more as you continue. As you accomplish tasks you get more experience points which eventually lead to you getting to a higher character level. With this level up, you can choose to better your personal strength, dexterity, intelligence or health, in order survive the future levels. By either discovering or purchasing treasure you have the chance to use it to get spells or better equipment. If you are killed in this game, it is a final defeat, and you get your high score. If you are killed before you kill Xaskazien on level 30, you have to start all over again.
You are not alone in this game, along the way you will meet other characters. Some of the characters you will meet are damsels, knights, weapon merchants or clerics. You can interact with these other characters, and this interaction can even help you along the journey. With a simple move of the mouse, you can hover over objects and other characters to see the potential gains and setbacks they may present you.
