Like the other Ford Simulators, this software is designed to promote Ford cars, except this time it's the 1994 models. Compared to the other Ford Sims, this has excellent graphics and sound. As far as I know, this is the final version produced for DOS; Ford Simulator 6 was made for Windows. Like Ford Simulator 3, the driving simulator puts you on a mission to drive to Lake Wakatonka as fast as you can. If you go too fast you're stopped by the police. Also if you crash too much your car will be destroyed. Lots of nice scenery and road await you in this Ford Simulator (improved in many ways from the other Ford Simulators). As usual, lots of information on Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicles.

Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online As a push for its growing line of motor vehicles, the Ford Motor Company teamed up with the SoftAd Group and Back Tech and released the Ford Simulator Series. This was truly a series of games that showcased the Ford vehicles for any given year, from trucks to automobiles. The first game of this nature came out in the late eighties, and this particular installment in the Ford Simulator series was released in the middle nineties. It was the second to the last game in the series, when Ford was considering abandoning video gaming as an advertisement method. All of the games were created for the DOS operating system on the personal computer, except for Ford Simulator 6, which was released late enough to be lucrative on the Windows format. The series ran from 1989 to 1995 and was moderately successful, enough so to keep the series running.
Ford Simulator 5 is a racing or driving game. All of the views from the actual driving aspect of the game are from the first person perspective. It is not a hardcore driving game with wild crashes and awesome artificial intelligence competition. It is a marketing tool, made to show off the physics of each of the Ford offerings for the year. The idea was to target younger customers who were into the rather new concept of video gaming and use the entertainment level of the Ford Simulator Series to build a fresh, and loyal base of clientele for the future. The makers at Ford and SoftAd wanted to draw the eye of these potential young buyers The game did not change over the course of the series. Ford Simulator 5 used the exact same game engine as the original Ford Simulator game. The thing that changed in each installment of the game was the list of vehicles that the user was able to drive. Obviously, the available vehicles from which the user could choose corresponded with those that Ford had to offer for each automotive calendar year.
At the opening screen, the user will be offered a list of the vehicles Ford was showcasing for that year. The game also included the Ford affiliate vehicles, such as the higher end Mercury products. The menu shows the available colors in each vehicle and a highly detailed profile and history of the vehicle, including power and braking statistics, engine sizes and other performance ratings. The game play is basically the same, regardless of what vehicle is chosen. There will be policemen to avoid and plenty of twists and turns to measure performance. Just get behind the wheel of whatever vehicle looks the best to you and drive away.
