This game is very similar to Star Fortress, except that instead of shields, you have spikes to shoot through. As well, it takes 2 hits to destroy your ship. You control a spaceship, shoot the big thing in the centre until it is destroyed, dodge bullets and try not to touch the shield spikes. This game has very difficult movement and momentum control and may be frustrating.

Battlestar is not a very original game but it can still be fun. It reminded me a bit of the old calculator games for the TI-89 if you remember those from High School Math classes. There is more too it than those old games, but that is definitely the feel that I got from the game when I first started to play.

The movement and controls can be a little difficult but if you spend a little bit of time they should not prevent you from being able to have an extremely enjoyable experience with the game. The controls do not make the game any less enjoyable so do not let that be a set back. I never beat the game so I do not know if there is an end to it or not, but it is always fun to try and go and beat my old high score. In that regard it reminds me of the helicopter game on addicting games that you can pretty much go forever and its just about beating your (or your friend's) highest score for bragging rights. There is definitely a lot of replay ability in the game because of these factors.

If I was to improve the game I would add a few more types of bullets or rounds to shoot and also a more different kinds of enemies or bosses so that you can have different strategies or skills while going through the game. I always enjoy having power ups and all sorts of different types of shooting abilities that can do different things because it makes for so much more fun replaying the game and trying to conquer new levels with different weapons. If there were more bosses or enemy types it would do the same things that I talked about with the different bullets. Having to change strategies (or even round types) on how you are fighting bad guys makes games so much more replay able.

Even with those improvements I still say that the game gets a 4 star out of a 5 star rating. THey do a good job of making a simple game still enjoyable and really making me want to play it again. It is a perfect game to wast 10 minutes of your day when you're waiting on going to class or a meeting or something like that. You won't want to play for 4 hours straight, but you can play it a little bit every day, which for me is a much better asset because I don't have the time to play a game for that long at any given time.
