BreakOut is another break-out clone. You control the paddle in this game, and you have make the ball hit the blocks at the top of your screen.
This break-out game is not very different compared to the other break-out games, but it might be nice to play. The only thing that's different is that you can move your paddle up and down, so you don't have to wait untill the ball is at the bottom of your screen to hit it again.
Reviewer: morrisra77 From big to small kids, Break Out is a true classic and easily one of the most addicting games you can play. It's a pretty simple game where the object is to simply remove all of the "bricks" off the screen. You do this by using the "platform" below and bouncing the ball, or I've heard it called the "breaker", so that it will hit the blocks. Sounds simple right? Wrong, the longer you play the more difficult the game gets. The first level is just a tease at how simplistic the game can be. Add in a few variables like bricks that never disappear, or a faster moving ball and the game's difficulty can start to soar. I beleive I originally owned this game for the Atari 2600 and it quickly became one of the family favorites because it is so simple to grasp the concept. No need to worry about jumping over the crocodile and catching the swinging rope only to fall prey to the snake on the other side. Aside from the simplistic drive of this game this version has revamped the graphics here and there. It is a complete overhaul of the original game but it sticks to the core concept of the game. Everything seems to have more of everything to put well, simply. Everything has a glow and or special effects which brings the game up to date for the type of gamer that it would matter to. Honestly though it was about time the game had an update. This version sticks close to what I have played in the past and isn't some sort of off shoot where you have to hit flying saucer that is trying to steal your ball. This is a nice version of the game with updated graphics. With all this in mind I don't suggest this game for the type of gamer who is constantly needing something to shoot, interact with, or anything that requires ADD to play. Also this is a single player game so don't expect to be able to connect to a server and play against someone. The game can be slow and tedious at times and very frustrating as you are trying to hit that one last block tucked away somewhere. So all in all the game is something that I keep on my desktop and I play at times, but it is not a game I am drawn to all the time. I think it's well worth the time to download and check it out, even it is simply just to help pass the time or just to see what gaming was like back before accelerated graphics.
