This game is a little more complex than a neopet, but at the same time it’s kinda the same, instead of taking care of a pet, you take care of a farm, your family leaves you here for a year to see how much you can progress.
In order to make money you will need to grow, tend and then harvest various items such as potatoes tomatoes etc. You will also have to harvest grass to feed your stock as you may want to invest in stock, such as cows, chickens (note, at the start of the game you get a dog, he does not need to be fed, but does need attention too.)
The game is pretty interactive as well, you have a small farming town to the left of your house, and also a small area to the north (I will get into that later).
In the small farming town is a church, a bar, a place to purchase farming goods, and one to get animals, and a few other places (mayor’s house) and in each house contains a daughter who you can sweet to be your love, and take to the dance, etc. The village holds festivals which you can attend, and win prizes for how good your crops are, or how well you maintain something.
The northern area I spoke of earlier, is also a good place to go, as you will fatigue at night, and you wanna keep work? Well there is a spa to the far north, also in this area are various plants and fruit you can take, and add to your harvest bin. There are also some lumbermen here that will upgrade your house for you, as you progress in the game, this is your ultimate goal, to progress your farm after one year, your parents will come to see how well you do, depending on what you do, and how you do it, will change their reaction, so enjoy this great classic.
All in all I give Harvest Moon 4/5
Graphics 5/5 (great for its time)
Game play 5/5 (very addictive, interactive as well)
Story 2/5 (not much of a story)
Replay value 5/5 (always a different path)
