This game is amazing. I have been looking for this game for a long time. The sound though is not that great. They could have done a better job with the music. However, the graphics are exceptional for its time, no wait, they are not exceptional they are just too good, unbelievable. I mean the time at which this game was made, yea they did a good job for then but come to think of it, compared to now they're not that great.
The reason I like this game is because of the gameplay though. It's simple and fun. And the game is also not complicated at all. There's hardly anything else to say about the game except the story line really is like a page turning magic book with a story about a dragon and a pig and a dog and a cat and all those other things like elves and dwarves and hobbits and witches and wizards and demons and goblins and all that rot.
All in all, nice game for a true fan.

Asciiquest! A simple game, but it has its charms.
For anyone who enjoys dungeon crawler games such as Stone Soup or other similar rogue-like games, Asciiquest could be a good way to have some easy fun.
The game has very basic graphics, being made entirely of symbols (numbers, letters, and punctuation galore) that you any person can find just by looking at the keyboard in front of a computer. But this doesn't mean the game is simple or basic. Asciiquest allows for a dungeon-crawl experience like many others.
If you want to save yourself some time, you'll need to find a place to download some pre-made Asciiquest dungeons, or "projects" as the menus of the game call them. This shouldn't be too hard (just search online using words appropriate words like Asciiquest and project or map). Loading up and playing one of these should give you some idea if the game could be worth the time to play. Like most rogue like games, you will have simple objectives to hunt and kill things, loot treasures, unlock doors, solve puzzles, etc. And like some games, it will be a task to get used to the play style-memorizing the symbols that a given monster or piece of treasure represents is the biggest deterrent. But once you get past that pittance of a hurdle (like a dedicated gamer probably will) you can find yourself spending more time than you realize on these surprisingly intricate puzzles.
However, that is only the start of what you can do with Asciiquest. The real fun comes with building your own projects and creating maps for other users to play. But be ready to test your creations before suggesting them to other people. And be sure to give instructions!
Asciiquest lets you make triggers and load up things like instructions or events to happen in game. So please, let the player know what he is supposed to be doing! If you do this, the player will be ten times more likely to continue playing your project, and very importantly, keep playing Asciiquest! I suggest giving the player some kind of key as well. Differentiating between friendly and helpful objects vs. traps and monsters that will get them killed will same some hair-pulling in the long run. If you don't have programming experience, don't be scared off by the idea of building your own dungeon! It’s ok to start with something simple and expand into more complicated scripts later. Just make sure you're having fun as you play. Experimenting can be a lot of fun!
If you want a game that lets you elegantly build a dungeon without over-the-top graphics, try Asciiquest! You might be surprised with how much fun you have.
