If you have ever played Boulderdash or one of its many clones, this game will look familiar. As usual, the goal is to get all the diamonds and make it to the exit, while trying not to let rocks fall on top you and squish you.
However, there is one interesting thing about Greeny3 that sets it apart from the other Boulderdash-esque games. You are constantly being "pulled" to the left side (sorta like the left wall being a magnet) and that adds to the challenge as you struggle to move right.
If you like Boulderdash, go ahead and download this game. For those new to Boulderdash, this may not be the best way to start.
Note: if you are running from pure DOS mode, you need EMS memory (i.e. have EMM386 loaded somewhere in CONFIG.SYS). Running from Windows should be fine except that it may be a little too fast.
Reviewer: alicia08 I would say that the Greeny game overall is a pretty good game. There is the fact that the graphics and settings of the levels are simple but after all, it's not really the type of game that requires a great looking setting. So I guess that's not really anything to complain about in a puzzle game.
The levels start out relatively easy and give you enough time to get your footing and learn what you're actually doing. Once you get the hang of it and realize what kills you and what doesn't begins to get harder as you go along. The game seems to progress in its challenge very quickly, going from really easy to moderately difficult to a real challenge without many progression levels.
However, the character is really cute. He's fun to play with and attention catching. Since, in my opinion, the character is the most important thing about the game, it's a good advantage. Lots of games have great backgrounds but dont spend much time on a character. Since he is pretty much the only thing to look at, I guess he had better be good. I was surprised by the catch that your character is constantly being pulled to the left side of the screen.
It was very frustrating at first and even annoying but it did increase the challenge. Once you adjust to it and start compensating for the additional movement, you really have to focus on what you are doing if you want to make it to the next level. I still have not gotten very far on it since trying to focus on my strategy as well as keep from being dragged to the left is very difficult. However if you want to improve your multitasking skills this would be the game to do it.
One thing I disliked about the game was the way the gems looked. It may be superficial but I wish they would have had a more interesting look about them. Though the game is good once you get into it, the initial excitement that you get just based off the way the game looked isnt really there. It looks boring, which is sad because the game is not boring at all. But anyone who starts this game will immediately be hooked. You can't stop once you have reached the last level which I am still trying to do. It is a challenge that you cant ignore. So overall if you look past its physical flaws, great game.
