This game is almost identical to Windows Minesweeper. You have a large grid, try to click on all the squares that don't have a mine, and mark the ones that you suspect have a mine. If the square reveals a number, that number indicates how many mines total are in the 8 squares surrounding that square. To win, you need to uncover all the squares that don't have a mine.
This is by far the best Minesweeper-type game I ever saw. Has lots of options, is as ergonomic as the Windows version, and has a nice clear cut layout. I think it's even better than the Windows version of Minesweeper.

Not much can really be said about Bombs Away! This is either a direct copy or a predecessor to Windows Minesweeper. The major differences are that it's alot better or quite possibly the best version to have come out. It has more graphical interfaces, as well as different colors. If you have a DOS computer or use Dosbox, this is a great addition to your collection of games. I personally love DOS games for their retro look and feel despite being immersed in a world of high tech high definiton games some of the best and most clever games are 8-bit and DOS. This is possibly one of the many at the higher top.
What I am going to do with this game is create a more exciting theme behind it possibly making it more intense and fun.
You play as a futuristic soldier searching through fields for bombs. Every time he digs for a bomb a number or numbers pop up and tells him exactly how many bombs are adjacent to the chosen square leading to their possible positions. His whole life has been filled with bomb finding. His whole family has done it at one point to try and bring them out of the poor house. He started as a rookie but eventually became the best of the best, but sadly his daily routine has been haunting his whole life stressing him out every morning about how this day might be his last.Bomb searchers die every day not being able to say goodbye to their families. His father was one of them. His father was one of the best bomb searchers and he strives to reach the expectations laid out for him for being his offspring. He wants to be exactly like his father (without dieing of course), but by doing this he might reach the same end as him. He has a family at home and a son that he wants to have a better life just as his father did for him. His hope is that he can raise enough money for him to go to school and not have to live through the same horrors as the soldier did. Tremendous skill and patience is needed to go through this venture and one false move can lead to this loving father's demise. Lead this man to victory and gain a better tomorrow. Guide him through so that he can live another day, send his son to school, and finish his father's job. Ones twos and threes are fine, but just pray to god you don't get an 8.
