Jet Set Willy is the sequel to Manic Miner. Miner Willy earned a lot money from the treasures he found in the caves, and he now belongs to the jet set, the rich people. He gives a party for all these people and his house is a complete disorder when they leave. You are miner Willy and you have to find all the objects back in more than 100 rooms.
Jet Set Willy is, like Manic Miner, a remake of an old classic game. If you liked playing the old version of Jet Set Willy I'm sure you'll also like this version because of the nice graphics, good gameplay and sound. It's worth the download.
Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online I remember this game as a kid. My older brother and I used to play it, and it was funny because it was on a tape sort of thing rather than a disk. Sort of like the game cartridges of Atari and the like. We also played Manic Miner, but when this came out, that game was shelved. It was incredibly easy to play, and the music changed whenever you were about to die, or did die.
The levels were pretty simple, but there were a TON of them. This was the first game I experienced that had pats (patrolling mobs), which of course are very commonplace now.
The game was fun, and there were a ton of rooms. The only drawback was how tiny everything was. You had to have really good eyesight to play this game.
The story was cute as well. It picked up where Manic Miner left off, in the sense that everything surrounding you came from the stuff the main character (Willy) found in the previous game. At first, you don't have access to the rest of the house until you clean up the mess you made from a fun night before. Which is the point of the entire game.
Gameplay was like the other Miner game, and can best be described as Space Invaders, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong all rolled into one. Everything is very colorful and the rooms change as you move about trying to collect all the items you need within a certain time-frame.
The game had some hidden fun as well. One room (The Nightmare), if played right, would turn you into a pig. There were also funny references and Monty Python-like stuff along the way. There were also tricks to dying, like one where if when you fell off a panel, and went through to a new room/screen, you wouldn't actually die.
A lot of people tend to be split down the middle about this game. My parents always found the music very annoying.
All in all, this game is great. It caused me a lot of fun times with my siblings and was a good break from the more educational games my parents tried to get me to play.
