God of Thunder is a nice adventure game with also some action in it.

The story behind this game is very nice. It is the year 927. Your father, Odin, rules the land. You are his son and he summoned you to The Great Hall of Asgard. He tells you to journey to Midgard and destroy Jormangund! To do that, you've only got your hammer, which automatically comes back when you throw it away.
But you don't have to use it for killing Jormandgund only, you can also use it for killing the animals that are very irritating because they just walk around and they hurt you when you touch them.

I don't think many people have heard of this game before. I know I don't know anybody else who has who's not in my family. The first time I played this game, I got it as a present on a CD with a few other DOS games. It was by far my favourite game for a very long time. Although the graphics are not that great, the gameplay is awesome. It is a mixture of puzzle and adventure as you try to get through the fun, but at many times frustrating parts of the game.

This is a really nice top down adventure game made by Software Creations in 1993. In this game you play the role of Thor, God of Thunder, and are sent to kill a giant snake by the name of Jormandgund and then Nognir and finally you must kill the god of mischief himself, Loki. You are only given a hammer to accomplish this immense task. The hammer is useful for many parts of the game because of its ability to come back to you. In many zones I found myself throwing the hammer and running around a barrier so that the hammer became stuck and I could use it to kill an annoying enemy that could not be reached otherwise. As you progress in the game you slowly gain more magical powers and you can withstand more damage from the annoying creatures which seem intent on causing you harm for no apparent reason whatsoever.

As well as being a great adventure and puzzle game, God Of Thunder also sports a great sense of humor in it. There are many aspects of the game which will catch you off guard and have you chuckling to yourself, such as references to Star Trek and countless numbers of puns throughout the game. If you harm an innocent person, Odin himself will give you a message telling you not to harm them.

The only bad thing I would have to say about this game is that it is incredibly hard to finish. If you like a challenge and enjoy puzzle type adventure games this game is probably one of the most challenging, but rewarding games out there. This game is definitely not for the faint hearted and will require many hours of gameplay, as most DOS games do anyway, to fully enjoy it. I would say that it is definitely worth a download. I would give this game a solid four and a half stars. The only reason why it lost half a star is because I think the graphics could have been done a bit better, but overall excellent!
