F1 Manager Professional is a sports game that never received the praise it should have. For its time, it is a first-rate, comprehensive racing game that lets you control every aspect of F1 team management. You just don’t race your car around the track hoping to make first place.
You are involved in the manufacturing of the cars, in finance, in dealing with racing performance, and even merchandising. You have control over engineers, writing contracts, finding sponsors, training drivers, car design and testing.
Reaching the top in this game requires business sense and engineering ability. Your objectives are to take your F1 racing team to the top and make money at the same time. This game has a user-friendly interface that lets you navigate through hundreds of menus, charts, models, and diagrams. These items give you the information you need to plan an effective business and race strategy. The interface may be easy to grasp, but there are many factors of the game, such as the designing and testing of race car models, that takes patience and perseverance to get through.
Besides the business involved, you do need to take care of the car once it is built. You just aren’t behind the scenes. You need to keep the car in perfect condition, replacing any parts that wear out or break. Also, you need to decide what modifications you are to make on the car on race day. The performance of the car will either improve or worsen with these modifications, so choose wisely. You also choose how fast the car should go in the race among other strategy options. And the driver…you have to choose one. Then after the race you assess any damage done to the car and then off to the garage to have it fixed.
Most of the game is done in 2D imaging, with the racing being in 3D for visual pleasure. The game has excellent resolution and the actual racing action is done in great detail, even with the background and display of sponsor's advertising. The racing even has commentary, and if you don’t care to watch the whole race, you can always fast forward it—but what’s the fun in that? There’s a great gameplay feature with F1MP: if you don't want to deal with so many business aspects, you can turn off some of those options. You can also change the difficulty setting along with many other options to contour the game to your skills.
This customizing features are ideal for casual gamers of this genre. And the excellent simulation of the game will please hard core F1 fans. Any racing fan, or sports management lovers, should find this download worthwhile.
