Treasure Mountain is a fun little educational game best suited for children ten years and older. The object of the game is to find the hidden treasures and put them in a big treasure chest found at the top of the castle. There are three different scenic levels which have numerous hidden treasures and a "key" to unlock your entrance to the next level.
On each level there are elves that you must catch with a net. Every time you catch an elf you get a coin, if you catch an elf with a "scroll" the elf gives you a question to answer. The questions vary from mathematical, scientific there are even environmental questions. If you get the question correct the elf then gives you a clue as to where the treasures and the key are hiding. As the game progresses some of the elves will be able to take coins away from you. Luckily, coins can be found on the ground and you just need to walk over them to pick them up. You need the coins to find the treasures and to buy the nets!
The game is very colourful and it has some quirky little sounds. The music, as with all games in this genre, is quite annoying after awhile and luckily can be turned off. It takes a little while to figure the game out especially how to find treasures.
Each level has different scenery and you soon learn that most of the scenery has a purpose, you must throw down a coin to look for a treasure even if you just see a rock! The questions asked by the elves can be quite challenging for children but they learn new words and ideas while playing.
As you play the game you collect many treasures and fill the treasure chest. Once you have achieved collecting 300 treasures (the highest level) you are given the crown from off the king's head. But you don't stop there. You put the crown on a podium and take one treasure with you down a slide and store your treasure away with all the others and go out of the cave and continue to collect even more treasure.
It’s a catchy, simple, little educational children's computer game from the late 1980's. The game lacks the current smooth graphics and sound effects found in PC games these days however it remains a fun, memorable, educational tool for children to play on the computer.
