Glest is a 3D real time strategy game. When I played it it reminded me of Warcraft, it has kind of the same feeling while you're playing this game. Create new forces to discover new terrain and to eliminate all your enemies.

The graphics of Glest are very good for a freeware game. Most freeware games don't have really good graphics, but Glest has.

Glest is a great real time strategy game similar to Warcraft III or Command and Conquer where you have to build up a base and defend it against other armies that you eventually want to take over. I was hooked immediately with the easy going gameplay and nice graphics. Thge interface featured a very short learning curve, so it was easy to get involved right away without having to navigate any clunky controls or spend two days reading a thick manual.

It was difficult to win early off but as I played it longer it got easier to play. You have to learn the intracacies of all the units available to you before you can look forward to any great successes. The game is not supported online, but you can play against three other AI characters. The graphics looked all around great for keeping some of the features turned off, being up to par with the games WC3 and C&C.; During the game play, there are different cool characters you can have in your army that are modeled nicely: wizards, dragons, demons, and many more. The architecture modeling is nice and when you get a strong base going it makes the game even that more fun. It is fun to watch the base grow and develop, because the display changes as the base changes, sort of like the cities in the Civilization series. It really gives the user a sense of pride and accomplishment to be able to see what he or she has built.

There were four unique maps to play and look at, and those were fun to explore. The maps consisted of Four Rivers, Riverside, The Island, and The Ruins. The upside is that you can make your own maps with the Editor Pack, which is a very nice feature to fall back upon when the other four become routine. This greatly adds to the game's replayability and adds a whole new dimension to Glest. I rate this game a 4 out of 5 and it is a game that is definitely an interesting try for all RTS lovers.

The graphics are amazing for a realtime strategy game and they greatly impressed me from the start. The sound is somewhat okay and doesn't get annoying or distracting when the units speak because they dont speak everytime you command them to move or attack. All around this game is quite impressive for freeware and would highly recommend anybody to give this game a shot sometime.
