Igor is a Supaplex / Winplex style game. You can clearly see it is based on the good old DOS version of Supaplex. The gameplay is allmost the same and it is a good game if you can't run Supaplex on your system but want to play the game with a little different taste.
While I was playing another Supaplex clone, Winplex, I really got that old Supaplex feeling, but I can't say I get the feeling when playing Igor, allthough the game is nice to play if you'd like something different, but still a little bit the same.
The goal in this game is to finish the levels. When you finish a level you will get a piece of a puzzle, which will be the Time Machine when you've got all the pieces.
Reviewer: chelly4744 For all of you who are a fan of Supaplex, you will find Igor: The Time Machine easy to follow and will get into it pretty quickly. It's your basic game of "collect all the items and head to the exit without droping a rock on your head or traping your items and yourself." Unlike Supaplex, though, there are a few more gadgets in this game. Control switches that blow up bombs (disks in Supaplex) are numbered, so it takes some thought into where to place them and which to blow first. Know your enemy. There are quite a few moving objects in Igor that behave in different ways, so you will want to come face to face with them before you do too much planning. I like the level editor, as well. If your friends get into the game, then this can can add a whole new range of fun to the game, or you can just use it to figure out how things work, like the game's enemies. The pipes that act like a maze can be quite tricky to work out, as well. They have alot more angles and can send you off in the wrong direction if you are not paying attention. A feature that is new to me in this kind of game is the items that you can pick up along the way. The stage can be made up of water, which means that an item such as a tank of air is what you need to to cross sections of the stage. Since the stages are a lot smaller than normal for this kind of game, that does keep things a little more interesting than just grass (or whatever you want to call it). The teleporters are difficult to master because you have no control over them; they are not random though, but a stage full of them can become frustrating. You know you're going to get there in the end, but it is difficult to scan the screen to see where you have popped out. Fans of the Commodore 64 game Balderdash or PC's Supaplex will not be disappointed. The graphics are better than the Supaplex but are not the crux of the game...that is the game play. The game also counts how many moves you take to finish the stage, and you are also timed so this is a great way to know who has the sharper brain between you and your friends. It's a little slower than Supaplex, so if you have not played this style game before I'd suggest starting here. It is a great learning tool, but challenging enough that it could never be called an amateur's game. Download Igor - The Time Machine (igor.zip)
