Many people have played this classic Parker Brothers board game in the past 100 years or so, for those of you who are familiar with Monopoly, this computer version might be what you're looking for.
If you never played or even heard of Monopoly (anyone out there in this category?), it is a relatively complex board game, the object is to be a successful landlord, buying properties and charging people rent for them. The rest is too much information to explain in this review, you can get more info from other sources.
Anyway, the cool parts about this rendition of Monopoly are that you can heavily customize it with a text editor. You can change the names of properties, change their prices and rent rates, and even change the Chance and Community Chest cards! If you're bored of traditional Monopoly, you can really make the game different!
This is probably the best computer version of Monopoly ever made (if you don't mind the ancient graphics and lack of sound).

Everyone knows what Monopoly is all about. Anyone that does not know, clearly, has missed out on a very important piece of work. This game combines both: diplomacy, business skills, hours and hours of fun, and of course the luck factor.
The game is basically played on a digital board, and involves rolling a dice to determine where each player will land during his/her turn. By going around the board, there are many properties to buy, “community chests” and “chances” to hit, and an empire to build. By building on owned properties, one can maximise his/her chances of winning the game, however, there only is a limited amount of money so one must invest carefully and intelligently.
The game play is really easy and straight forward, and even for the reluctant ones that never played Monopoly before their M-day, will find this game amazingly simple to play and exciting.
Graphics are basically in two dimensions… but, hey! Who needs more than that to play a board game? There are a few animations, but these will only add to the Monopoly experience since Monopoly remains a social game most of all.
I used to play this game while at university with my flatmates. It was back then, as a novice that had only heard about the game, that I started playing Monopoly. After about 15 minutes I got the hang of it. Eventually, I started trading more and more often. This game would, in fact, last for many, many, many hours, with many needed breaks every hour or so of skilful and intense negotiations. Even when knocked out of the game, it would still force me to stay because I wanted to see who would win and how the game would evolve. Because, it is the case, very often, for a very “strong” player suddenly to lose properties/money, giving a new direction to the game. With the added computer players, one can still have the same amount of fun and experience Monopoly’s greatness with only one friend, or even on your own, and giving you the opportunity to save/load games at will.
Now, I play this, which is my favourite edition of the game, almost every day, with new people every time, because no one can say no to a Monopoly game.
There is no other game like Monopoly, and no other board game that will replace it for a long time. Monopoly is a must try for new players, and a must have in one’s collection.
