This is a simple arcade space shooter in the tradition of Galaga, Galaxian, Space Invaders, Kiloblaster, etc. Your job is to destroy as many aliens as you can without letting your spaceship get destroyed. That's about it.

Galactic Gorch. One of the most interesting names for a game I've seen. The name definitely caught my eye. I checked it out. Bought it. Played it. I will tell you everything that happened after.
The game definitely lives up to its fun name. This is a simple, fun 2d shooter. If you have ever played Galalga, or Space Invaders, You know what it's like. It was released around 1995. One of the best years for gaming in general, and a game as simple like this definitely went under the radar for other games of the same year. It was published by King Yiggle. Ever heard of him? If not, he's the guy that made... Galactic Gorch. As you can see he's not that well known. Though, many unknown people made great games, and this is one of them.
The graphics are simple, and look pretty good for what it is. You're flying around in space and the background is very simple. It's space, and has stars, but is fun to look at. The enemies are simple as well, but also fun and enjoyable to look at. In fact, the graphics and enemies are also very similar to Space Invaders, but updated. They look crisper, and colorful, which is a great thing.
The gameplay of course is also very similar to the other games I've mentioned. You move with the arrow keys, which works well. You use the space bar to shoot, which also works well. Honestly, can you think of any other control layout for a game like this? I can't. There is also an option to use a joystick. I'm sure this will make some people happy, as it can give an arcade feel to it. I have no experience with this however.
One of my favorite things about this game is the enemies. They are unique, detailed, and colorful. There’s buggle, who is a bug. There’s chomp that is a weird face with a big mouth, and there is clank, which is an evil head of a robot. He is my favorite. There are also many other enemies, that you will no doubt love to kill. I also have to mention doodley, who has a vey unique design.
The sound effects are nice as well. Because of the games simple nature, you can't really expect much, but they work, and enhance the game.
Overall, if you are a fan of 2d shooters in space, play this game, as you are sure to love it. I did.
