Like the Ford Simulators, this game was made for advertising, except instead of Ford cars, this time it's Domino's Pizza!
In this game, it is your job to deliver a pizza in 30 minutes or less. This would be easy, except for a weird rabbit-like monster called a "noid" who gets in your way and tries to stop you.
The PC speaker sound is extremely annoying and the graphics are ancient 4-color CGA. Also it can be frustrating to move your delivery guy.
Generally only worth a download just for the sentimental value of seeing a pizza advertising game from 1989.
Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online Avoid the Noid is a promotional game developed by Dominoes Pizza. The game was fun and features the great mindless entertainment of a standard platform game. There are many levels in the tower, so it will take a while to complete the game. You are a pizza delivery man and are supposed to deliver a pizza to the penthouse of a building. There are lots of levels and they have different types obstacles and problems. Your opponent is called a Noid. The Noid is a fictional creature made up by Dominoes in the late eighties as part of a promotion. It must be avoided at all costs to succeed at the game. The Noids' entire goal in life is to destroy pizza. The Noid looks a lot like a rabbit in a red suit.
Your only defense against the Noid is something called a "Noid Avoider", which removes all the noids from the screen. Aside from this all you have is the ability to jump and roll. Each screen is comprised of three floors. To proceed to the following floor, you must make it to the elevator at the other end of the hallway. Some of the doors to the elevators are locked so you need keys. They can be found in coin returns of payphones found throughout the building. Be careful when checking them though; they may also contain boobytraps which explodes upon checking. The Noids have varying degrees of difficulty. They have different skills ranging from just running at you to shooting bazookas at you. If they catch you, they push you down and stomp on your pizza. Once you finally make it to the top floor you realize you need three additional keys to enter the penthouse ( I don’t know why you can’t just knock on the door). you then must proceed to the roof where Noids in airplanes drop water balloons on you to try to soak your pizza. There you must obtain the three keys for entry into the penthouse.
All in all this games is creative and certainly features a unique antagonist. The sound effects enhance the game play, and the Noids will make all sorts of sounds when they are attacking or when they ruin your pizza. I would say this might be a good game for a young child because of its vivid colors and silly animations. Overall, Avoid the Noid ranks as an eight out of ten in my book.
