This is a fighting game sort of like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. Pick your monster, and go to battle against the computer's monster. Try to beat the computer's monster up to win. Not much more to it than that.
Download this if you're bored, don't expect anything spectacular.
Reviewer: xp3nsiive Okay basically this is a fighting game kind of similar to Street Fighter in a way because you’re trying to become the lord of Necrovania. The characters you can choose to use in battle are all called "creeps". I think there are about four or five different "creeps" to choose from. Once you start to battle each creep you need to defeat them all in order to be the leader of all the "creeps" and to open this door on Halloween night.
The graphics aren't that bad, but then again compared to any game nowadays there is room for improvement, but then again this is an old game. There is music and the characters actually have real live voices. Camera angles are actually pretty pleasant.
Overall the game is very simple, there isn't much to complain about unless your prefer some sort of complexity embedded within your games but otherwise you would probably enjoy it and there is a bit of a story so it’s not a total pointless drag. The actual fighting is pretty good.
So, go right ahead and download it.
Reviewer: tontigre Reviewing games now versus when they came out puts one in a bit of a judgmental position. Even objectively I have to admit this game must only be played if there is a need to research how fighting games were first initiated in the PC world.
OK, so 47-TEK, Inc. decided back in '94 to attract some young'ns to a neat fighting game where spooky “creeps”, only four mind you, were going to decide who's the better ghoul to earn the privilege of opening up a frigg'n door. So you got a pumpkin with flames named Pumpkin Pyre, a Frankenstein's monster guy named Frankenclod with, who would've thought, a jet pack strapped on the back of his trusty torso. There's an over-grown bat called Ludwig or Lugwig Van Vampirebat or something, and last but not least a demon skeleton with the name Demon Spawn, which I believe is the best built polygonal character in this cracker jack box.
First off, I think if something during the voice-over story moved it would be a bit more inviting to watch. I was waiting till something just moved. Still frames with voices are way outdated. Second the controls are a bit difficult to manage unless of course you are using a joystick. And I must add that having only one ATTACK button, just ONE, is a bit frustrating, but again it's 1994; have to remember that. Maybe the ending story would be worth taking the time to actually use all the characters because it was a little more than intolerable to continue playing more than I felt I had to to see what king of game it was since before accidentally finding out about it I never actually ever heard of it.
So, it was pretty mundane in terms of action and background imagery. The nice thing about it is that there was a DEFEND button and actual directions to evade attacks from the opponent. There were times when I thought I got a hit in and no power gauge was decreased; so maybe the computer was using an ultimate defense while I did my best to repeatedly pound the single, lone ATTACK button. Maybe I just didn't evade well enough.
I can say that whom ever came up with the idea had or has an extremely wide imagination and I wish that they are doing much better from this monster bashing ballet of CREEPS. I guess I'm still wondering why the plot was designed for these weirdos to beat each other up to open the door to the living. I suppose it's meant for the kiddos since there's really no blood or anything, and we all know how kids like watching a bunch of grown-ups in Halloween land duke it out.
