From the manual included in the game's ZIP file:

"Laser Lock is a unique blend of the strategy, puzzle, and artificial life
genres. And it's free! Save a small group of troops and scientists from
ruthless aliens. Use objects such as, lasers, airlocks, bombs, motion
sensors, lights, and more to rid the space station of the invading horde and
avoid human casualties."

This game seems rather hard to understand, also it is counter-intuitive and the interface is rather mind-boggling.
Only download this game if you like games that are complicated and take time to learn.

This game is only for those with tons of patience and a love of complicated, difficult, and confusing games. I spent over twenty minutes before I had any idea what I was doing and it took me about an hour after that before I was actually able to enjoy the game.
This was the case despite having a very basic concept. The goal is to save (what I make out to be) a bunch of people from something although it is difficult to determine exactly what you are saving the people from. There are a variety of different methods that you can employ but one must be most careful not to accidentally destroy the people you are trying to save (this can happen very easily).
The game was not enjoyable however because all discoveries and thus improvements in my abilities happened on accident and it is really hard for it to happen any other way. This is because each of the methods you employ to save the people at times does not seem to work and at other times leads to unexpected and irrational results.
You need to be very careful in planning your strategy because the methods you employ in order to save the people costs energy, something which you do not have a plentiful supply of. Creating the perfect strategy is the real skill of this game as executing manoeuvres is the mere result of pressing buttons and clicking on areas with your mouse.
My biggest problem with this game is that the events are strictly planned thus it is the same game every time and each action yields a predictable result thus after coming up with a successful strategy there is really nothing in the game to do. This is disappointing because all the time I spent guessing and praying to figure out how the game works is worthless because the ultimate joy was so little and I was unable to really apply the skill that I had gained.
One thing that I have neglected to mention thus far is that in planning your strategy it is important to take into account the various puzzles that the game presents. Solving the puzzles, which in some ways is just part of your strategy, is the easiest part of the game and the most fun. However, the amounts of puzzles are limited and once you solve it, there is no need to solve it again.
