The Lion King is a well-known cartoon published by Disney. Besides the video tapes and some other Lion King stuff they published, they also published this game. You are the little lion called Simba. You have to eat insects and some other small animals, but take care of the bigger ones, they will try to kill you.

If you enjoyed watching The Lion King, you should really try game.
It has nice graphics and a good gameplay, so why not give it a try?

Following the release of Disney’s touching tale of the same name, Virgin Interactive Entertainment released the video game, The Lion King. Dark Technologies developed the game and it was released for play in the middle nineties. Capitalizing on the movie’s rampant popularity, the game was ported to multiple formats, including the Sega, Game Boy, NES, Amiga, and of course, the personal computer. It is a side scrolling platform game that follows the life of the young lion cub Simba. Since it is a fully licensed title, the user can look forward to seeing many of his favorite characters from the movie rendered beautifully in this game.
In the Lion King, the user will play the role of Simba the lion. The game is primarily a jump and run style of platform game, and the user will have to control Simba and help him move (by running, jumping, and climbing) from platform to platform. The only exception to this is in the Stampede level, which recreates the wildebeest stamped that ultimately kills Simba’s father and sets the plot in play. This sequence shows Simba running at the camera with wildebeest zooming all around him and jumping over rocks.
Play is pretty straightforward, but cute. Like the movie, there are two versions of Simba…the adorable but ineffective little cub, and the more stately adult lion. As a cub, Simba has a weak roar and can jump and roll onto his enemies, similar to the scene where he and Nala wrestle. As an adult, his roar is much more impressive and damaging, but the meter (portrayed in the upper left hand corner…other meters include his health meter in the upper right, and the number of lives shown at the bottom) must be fully charged to activate it. The adult Simba can no longer do the roll, but can instead slash and claw at his enemies.
Many of the levels in the Lion King resemble scenes from the movie and are complete with adaptations of the same songs. There is a graveyard scene with the hyenas; the “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” level, which is just fun and sees Simba frolicking with the plains animals; there is a scene reflecting his exile from the Pride Lands where he runs away, avoiding falling rocks; Hakuna Matata had to be included, and features a greasy jungle scene with coconut lobbing gorillas, along with many more.
Overall, this is just a cute little conversion of the Disney film. It actually does a good job of following the plot fairly closely and will certainly offer many chuckles and fun family moments for those who download it.
