Acid Tetris is a nice made Tetris game. Thisis what I found in the ID file of the game:
ACiD Tetris is a graphicly stunning rendition of the famous Tetris game. Includes fully tracked digital music by popular musicians.
The sounds of the game are very nice. If you run this game in Windows XP you might like to use VDM Sound, the sounds will get better of that. The gameplay is good too, and the graphics are very good. The intention seems clear to me, it's a tetris game as you might have noticed from the name. This game gets a 4 star rating from me, because I think this is a nice tetris game to play, even if you are sick of all the other tetris-like games that are made.
Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online There is not too much to say about the game Acid Tetris. The setup of the game is very much like regular tetris, except you have a smiley face that pops up whenever you do something good or bad. When you clear a line of four, the smiley face looks like he is on acid, hence where they probably got the name from....lol. Anyway, someone took the time to make it very easy to set the game up and play it. No running it through dosbox or anything. Just remember to let it autodetect your speakers for the sound or you'll hear some very annoying beeps until you do.
The controls for the game are so easy your child could do it. Acid Tetris also lets you configure the controls the way you like. Considering the age of the game, the graphics look great. They even threw in some "trippy" colors for you to look at while you play. The smiley face is a little confusing at times. It doesn't seem to like it if you clear lines before they have a chance to build up, but if you let two or three lines build up before you clear them, it will smile for you. At the same time though, if you start to get close to the top, the smiley starts frowning. (Like you need any more pressure when you are that close to losing!)
The game runs just like tetris. You start out with a blank field on level zero. (You can also choose a level at the menu page for those advanced tetris players that are too good for level zero). From there you continue to place the classic tetris shapes onto your field and try to build up your lines, without leaving gaps, until you eventually get the right pieces to clear them. The more lines you clear, the closer you get to leveling up. The higher the level you achieve, the faster the game pieces come down. I cannot tell you how many levels there are since I am not very good when the speed increases.
I do not really remember this game when I was younger, but I am sure many people enjoyed playing this great puzzle game and hopefully some newcomers will come to love this tetris based game as well. Overall though, I would give Acid Tetris a rating of eight out of ten. Hey, if you have ever played tetris and liked it, then you will love Acid Tetris.
