The graphics are drab but it doesn't matter. The PC Speaker sound may be annoying. This is a game show style game. The object is to find a word that fits the category and the other word. It's hard to explain, but once you start playing, you'll see what I mean. A decent game overall.
If you like game shows in general, this is worth a try.
(Note: This game runs too fast on modern computers. Use MoSlo or some other slowdown technique to play. Also, you must run GAME.BAT to play.)
Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online Ahh, the 80's. who can forget that magical time when Miami Vice was a hit, and they were re-making game shows left and right. Well, here we have less of an remake, and more of an upgrade. the 100,000 dollar pyramid is a game where you have to guess what your partner is talking about. If you have ever watched the show, you know what I am talking about. they give you a category, and seven things you have to guess or get your partner to guess, without saying the actual word. Example, category is things you find in a school, and they give you a list of words you need your partner to say. For every word you guess correctly, you get a point, first to 21 wins the game, and gets a chance to step into the final round the pyramid round, where you have to guess the category while they give you words/items related to that category. if you get to the top of the pyramid, guess what? You win a hundred thousand dollars! and guess what? you get to do it all over again!
That is the basic rundown of the game, and there is really nothing much else to say. I didn't mind the TV show, and I don't mind the game, as it is pretty spot on with the game show. Graphics for the mid 80's are actually pretty good, and the host kind of looks like Dick Clark, so that is a plus. Sounds leaves a little to be desired, but it is from the 80's, so I wasn't expecting the bees knees in sounds. Game play is pretty basic, but it emulates the game show perfectly, so that gives it big points. As for relating with other game show games from the era, it is one of he better ones. Sure, it will never be a jeopardy or wheel of fortune, but it is a lot better than most of them out there, because this one actually requires some more brain use then some of the game show that were on TV at the time. If you are a big fan of game show games, or just want to see the 80's in it's finest glory, this is the game for you, as it can be challenging, and the pyramid portion of the game is the best part, as it requires a fast mind, and even faster fingers, as you still have to type your answers into the games interface.
Overall, a good game for the time, definitely showing it's age, but still one of the best.
