The graphics and sound are OK. The object of this game is to guide trains to their correct stations. You can twist the train tracks to guide the trains. This is great innovation in puzzle games. It's tough and a fun challenge. Lots of brain power and patience required. A well-made game indeed.

Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online Chris Sawyer, the inventor of the popular computer simulation game, Roller Coaster Tycoon, is also the inventor of another simulation game, Locomotion. Touted as the unofficial sequel to Microprose’s Transport Tycoon, Locomotion is a single or multi-player game of economic simulation, specifically revolving around the shipment of goods. It plays in the three dimensional isometric point of view, just like Roller Coaster Tycoon, and was actually made for the Windows operating system. It was released in the fall of 2004 and also features a scenario editor or construction set.
Judging by the title, the user may be fooled into believing that the game revolves only around railroad systems and different types of train engines, more like a Railroad Tycoon. This is not the case. The user can create railroad systems, but can also build trams, trucking lines, air plane terminals, bus routes, shipping lanes and so forth. The goal of the game is to use the most efficient method of transportation to move goods around the world, and make more money than your competitors while doing it.
Locomotion features forty scenarios with varying goals from which the user can choose. Each scenario offers a unique challenge, which could be anything from putting a specific competitor out of business, to raising a certain amount of money, to building a set number of bus terminals. If the gamer cannot find a suitably challenging scenario, he is welcome to use Locomotion’s game editor and construction set to customize one, or build one completely from scratch.
The user will get a crash course in economic micromanagement in this game. He has to keep a close watch on his profit and loss columns in order to determine the most effective method of transporting products to various different areas. Sometimes the seemingly greatest ship in the world is so costly to upkeep that all of its speed and massive cargo capacity still will turn no profit. The user will have to monitor his competition as well, and watch for trends in their sales patterns, also being wary of sabotage efforts by the competition.
Overall, Locomotion is a nice game of economic simulation that concentrates strictly on the transportation end of business. It offered some nice updates and changes from its unofficial predecessor and is quite an enjoyable and challenging play. Most any fan of simulations will like this one, and it features a theme and difficulty level that can be suited to gamers of any age. Download Locomotion (locomotion.zip)
