The graphics are simple but suitable. The game seems silent. This game is about 2 worms that try to kill each other using various weapons. The learning curve is steep and the controls are very awkward. It will take a little while to get used to. Overall, a fun addictive game with a very awkward interface.

Reviewer: Dos-Games-Online Many gamers are familiar with the classic turn based strategy game called Worms! It has been around for some time and has seen numerous remakes, clones, sequels and so forth. Liero is a Finnish version of the game created by Finnish programmer Joosa Riekkinen. Liero actually means earthworm in Finland, making it an appropriate name for this game. Liero is basically a death match between two opposing earthworms. The major difference, which most people cite as a marked improvement, is the fact that Liero is a real time strategy, whereas Worms! is turn based. This version of the game was released in the late nineties.
In Liero, the user plays the part of one earthworm in a duel with another earthworm. The two players, whether it is the gamer and a friend or the gamer and the computer’s artificial intelligence, will simultaneously view a split screen on the computer. The terrain is dirt, and the worm will have to navigate through this underground setting by digging and using explosives to clear away bigger portions. There are a few indestructible rocks that will not succumb to the worm’s gnawing, however. The player will also be able to speed up the process of moving through the terrain by utilizing his grappling hook, which can be used to grab objects and pull himself along at a reasonably high rate of speed…for a worm.
To overtake the enemy, each worm has five weapons which can be selected from a list of about forty. As the worms move through the terrain, more bonus items may be found hidden in the dirt that can be used to replace the existing weapons. The weapons are diverse and very cool. The worm may use anything from a flame thrower to a guided missile in his attacks on his fellow worm. There may also be bonuses that will add to the worm’s health after being injured in battle.
There are many different modes of play in Liero, but the most popular is the head to head death match. The game can also be played as a modified version of the popular capture the flag theme. Finally, the two competitors can vie for the highest score.
Liero is a brilliant game that vastly improved on the original Worms! It looks good, is fun to play, and is also highly replayable, making it a sure bet for download. Get started now and maneuver you little earthworm hero into the limelight.
